A little more about working together

Planning your wedding flowers often comes with many questions — from understanding floral investment to knowing how the design process works. I hope the below offers a little more insight into my approach, the experience of working together, and what it feels like to plan your wedding flowers with Martha and the Meadow.

When should we enquire?

I would always recommend getting in touch once you have secured your venue and wedding date, particularly if you are planning a wedding during the main season.

What areas do you cover?

I work throughout Dorset, South Wiltshire, Somerset, and the New Forest, regularly designing flowers for weddings across a mix of private homes, marquee weddings, and some of the South West's leading wedding venues.

For larger full design weddings, I am always happy to discuss travel further afield where required.

Do you use seasonal and British flowers?

Yes — seasonality sits at the heart of everything I create.

Where possible, I prioritise British-grown flowers and work closely with growers across Dorset and the South West throughout the season. Alongside this, I carefully source additional flowers from trusted suppliers when needed to achieve the right balance for your designs. Using seasonal flowers allows for more natural movement, beautiful scent, and floral combinations that truly reflect that moment in time.

Do you work sustainably?

Sustainability is an important part of my approach as a floral designer.

I design with  foam-free and favour reusable mechanics and locally sourced flowers wherever possible. My aim is always to create flowers that feel abundant and immersive, whilst remaining thoughtful in their environmental impact.

How does the design process work?

Following your enquiry, I usually begin with an initial call to discuss your plans, venue, and ideas for the day. From this, I create an initial proposal to give you a clear sense of the floral direction, considering seasonality, setting, requirements, and overall investment.

This allows you to understand what is possible for your wedding flowers and decide whether you would like to move forward and secure your date.

Once your date is confirmed in the diary, we go into a more detailed design stage. A consultation is then arranged — either via Zoom or at your venue — where we explore your wedding, floral style, and the atmosphere you would like to create in greater depth.

From there, I develop a bespoke floral proposal tailored specifically to your celebration, with refined options and design direction throughout.

Throughout the process, I remain closely involved and always available by email or phone should you need guidance or reassurance at any stage.

Can you work with our planner or stylist?

Absolutely. I regularly collaborate with planners, stylists, marquee companies, and venue teams throughout Dorset and the South West to ensure the floral design feels cohesive and considered within the wider aesthetic of your day.

Why do you have a minimum investment?

My minimum investment points are in place to ensure I can continue to deliver the level of design, detail, and seasonal quality that defines the Martha and the Meadow style. They are based on over a decade of experience designing wedding flowers, taking into account the true cost of florals, preparation, sourcing, and the time required to create each wedding to a consistently high standard.

How much should we expect to invest in wedding flowers?

Wedding flowers are deeply personal, and no two celebrations are ever the same. Because of this, floral investment can vary depending on the scale of your wedding, the flowers chosen, seasonal availability, and the level of design and installation involved.

To offer clarity, I work with two core design directions which allow flexibility in understanding what may be required for your day.

My Signature Design service focuses on beautifully considered florals for your bridal party, ceremony, and reception styling. This offers a refined sense of quiet luxury, with a minimum investment of £3,600.

For couples looking for a more expansive floral experience — including larger statement pieces, installations, or a greater use of premium seasonal blooms throughout — my Full Design service begins from £6,000.

The overall investment will also be shaped by factors such as guest numbers, venue scale, marquee requirements, and the level of florals required across the day.

I always encourage couples to consider their comfortable investment early in the process, as this helps guide a more focused and considered design approach. Rather than working from a fixed price list, I approach each wedding individually, drawing on experience to create a proposal that feels thoughtful, intentional, and reflective of your celebration as a whole.

Are you able to source vases and candles?

Of course, I have a huge selection of vases and vessels for which you to choose from. Also depending on needs we can also look at sourcing for your event. We also supply candlelight in numerous formats for your wedding day.

What happens to the flowers after our event?

We offer a breakdown/collection service for our weddings. This is where we come back after your event and any flower is wrapped and bunched up for you and your guests. We take back our hire items and breakdown any installations. Any foliage / flower not required will be composted and removed from the site.

How do we secure our wedding date?

Dates are secured with a holding fee and agree with our Terms and Conditions. Once your date is confirmed within the Martha and the Meadow diary, we can begin the design process for your wedding flowers.

Final note

Choosing your wedding florist is a deeply personal decision and one that goes far beyond simply selecting flowers.

My aim is always to create floral designs that feel thoughtful, immersive, and entirely reflective of your celebration, whilst offering a calm, supportive, and highly personal experience throughout the process.
