Lilac Love

I found myself looking upwards at the bare lilac tree in hope this morning. With spring now begining to flourish on her truly spectacular journey - I have to admit there is one blooms arrival I cannot wait; that is Lilac.

Lilac - Wedding Flowers

Its divine scent, delicate individual flowers, dreamy shades and fullness of bloom just does it for me!

Syringia is its latin name and I am not suprised that it stands for the symbol of love in the language of flowers, to me it just ouzes romance.

Available from January through to May as a cut flower and found on trees in mid spring. Lilac offers its colours up in a number of dusky shades from a deep purple, through to lavender, dusky pink and finally white.

Lilac offers a real fullness and luxury to any arrangement. I love to use it for spring weddings. offering up such a rich, sumptous feeling to any bridal bouquet or draped out of table arrangements. On its own or mixed with tulips, roses and other spring blossoms; - Lilac is one to consider for your wedding.

Lilac Wedding Flowers

Its a bloom I love and I can't wait to see the surrounding trees in Dorset pop open with colour in the coming weeks. Despite the old wives tales, I will be bringing it into the house in by the bucket full.

So this spring don't just wait for the arrival of Tulips and Blossom, look out for grandma's favourite - the Lilac tree.
